Glass Page 3

This glass platter measures 36 cm x 36 cm and has a frosted rim. I first glued the pictures onto it using Liquitex Medium Gloss and Varnish. Because the platter has a curved surface, I had to cut into the large picture in many places. I applied gold leaf to the back of the plate to 'fill in' gaps where the picture failed to overlap. I then glued textured paper to the back and sponged iridescent acrylic paint over it. The rim is finished with a differently coloured textured paper and silver paint (the frosting effect disappeared at this stage). The back is finished with gesso, iridescent paint, textured paper and several coats of water-based varnish.

(Pic to come) This glass plate is 33cm square decorated underneath with a fruit design. I then applied Jo Sonja's Norwegian Orange acrylic paint mixed with Liquitex acrylic Iridescent tinting medium to obtain a beautiful light pearlised pink effect. Then I applied two coats of gesso, and another two coats of pearlised pink. and finally two coats of oil varnish.
